23 weeks

Another week down... another week closer to meeting Brycen!
Everytime someone I know has their baby, it makes me even more anxious and excited to meet our little one!  I know it'll be our time before we know it, but it's the waiting game that I dislike!  I feel like Brycen is the last one of the bunch (but that just means we're saving the best for last, right?)
I've been researching photographers and I think I found someone to do Brycen's newborn photos!  She is very talented and decently priced.... This is one thing that I am EXTREMELY excited about doing!  I love the pictures of sleeping, naked babies, with just a hat on their head, all curled up..
As usual, I am thoroughly enjoying this pregnancy, although the back pain is officially here!  Brian keeps telling me to get in for a massage, and I should, but I haven't... This past week has also brought out the clumsiness!  I dumped an entire (new) box of cereal.. all over the kitchen floor.  I was so frustrated, but Brian was so patient and helped to clean it up!  We then got done with dinner, and I attempted to throw out the remaining mashed potatoes and someone missed the garbage can and they ended up on the kitchen floor - Bella sure enjoyed that present!
Speaking of presents, Brycen got a few more this week!

1st year calendar, closet dividers, and embroidered stroller blanket

Thank you so much Michael and Sarah for the awesome gifts - the closet dividers are GENIUS!
This is also an exciting week for my furbaby - it's Bella's birthday!  I cannot believe that we rescued her a year ago!  I just wish I knew how old she really was (since she was a stray we don't have a clue), although the humane society thinks she was around 3 when they found her... so we're running with it.  Of course a birthday wouldn't be complete without a new toy...

Happy 4th Birthday Bella!

Well that's enough babbling from me... on to the weekly stats...

Consignment Sale

Today, we (Brian, my mother in law and myself) hit up our first consignment sale.
It is amazing how much stuff was there - it was extremely overwhelming, but I think we did good!
I've said this before (and I'll say it again), Brycen is spoiled rotten (and I wouldn't have it any other way)...
his closet is pretty full already (and we haven't even had a shower yet).
Here's what we picked up at the sale today:

2 overall outfits
3 sleepers and a Halo Sleep sack
Possible outfit for my Sister's wedding?
Chiefs outfit - Yes he is already a big fan!
3 rompers and a cute ducky onesie
5 pack of onesies
5 hats

All for about $60!
I'd say it was a success!
One thing is for sure - I need a lot more hangers :)

Belly Picture

I updated my 22 week post to include a belly picture.
The camera definitely adds some weight - my belly is not as big as this picture makes it out to be!

22 weeks

Another week down... can you believe it?  yeah me either!
This past week has been pretty uneventful... I've been sick the past few days which hasn't been fun.  I feel like crap and I'm miserable!  The ONLY positive of being sick is that Brycen has been SUPER active, and no matter how sick I feel, his kicks and flips put a smile on my face.  I wish I could look into tummy and see what he's doing in there sometimes, because I swear he's like a gymnast!  While laid up on the couch on Monday, I realized that you can now see my belly moving.  As soon as we finished dinner, I laid down to show Brian and then he put his hand on my belly and got quite the kick!  His eyes about bulged out of his head - it was so cool to see his reaction.
On the Babymoon front - we decided to reschedule it for a later date.  So instead of going away this weekend, we will be going away sometime in April.  I was a little disappointed until I realized that we get an extra paycheck in April!  That means lots of presents for Brycen and perhaps a few for mommy and daddy!
My family, friends, and I were also able to secure dates for my baby showers (yes showers, there are 3 of them - what can I say, Brycen is loved!)  My Buffalo family shower is May 14; friends shower is May 22, and Nebraska family shower is June 5!  That means I'll have a good 6 weeks to get any remaining items for Brycen before he makes his appearance.

How far along? 22 weeks... Approximately 126 days to go
How Big is Baby (from - Baby's now the size of a papaya!  Baby's settling into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. It shouldn't be hard to figure out when -- just pay attention to those kicks as they start and stop.
Weight gain - +.4 pounds since last week... still down 4.3 overall!
Maternity Clothes - STILL able to wear my normal clothes!
Food aversions - Sausage - not sure how bad it is anymore cause I just stay away from it now!
Cravings - Fruit and sugar
Symptoms - nothing but movement
Movement - I'm baking a gymnast in my belly!  I LOVE when he is moving around.
Belly Button - Still an innie
Labor Signs - None, and it can stay that way until AT LEAST 36 weeks!
Goal for the coming week -  get over this illness and try not to spend too much money on stuff for Brycen
What I'm looking forward to - so many things!  Hopefully scheduling a 3d/4d ultrasound while I'm home in Buffalo!
22 week belly picture - looks much bigger than I really am!
I received a $25 gift card in the mail recently to Kids Stuff Superstore - so yesterday, I stopped in to see what they had.  I was hoping they had clothes, but it was a lot more gear.  Not wanting to waste the gift card, I stumbled upon Chicco toys, buy 1 get 1 50% off.  So I ended up with 6 toys (rattles, teethers, and play cell phone).  I also found these:

I couldn't help myself and HAD to get them.
We've already decided that Brycen is going to love football - the KC Chiefs to be exact!
Now if only I could find a Chiefs outfit for him...
On a side note...
I've also been thinking about doing maternity photos.  I don't want to spend a ton of money, but think it's a good thing to document.  What do you think?

We love presents!
(But then again who doesn't)

First, on the What To Expect July monthly board, we are participating in "Secret Mommy".
Basically, we each received the name and details of one mommy and will send a present each month until our due dates when we will finally reveal who has who.  The gifts can be something for baby or something for mommy.  Yesterday, I received my first "Secret Mommy" gift.  It's a toy giraffe that stimulates multiple senses - this will be great to hook onto Brycen's carrier/stroller.

We met the inlaws for dinner tonight, where we received this gift:

You choose a sonogram picture and then one of 10 sayings.  I was so excited to get this into Brycen's room. It was the first thing I did when we got home!  This is my favorite picture because you can count the fingers on his right hand!  Thank you so much Scott, Amy, Brennan, Corbin and Nolan!

And the last present was from me - books (imagine that)!  Like I've posted previously, I LOVE the dollar bins at Target - especially for books.  The theme in the bins this week was Sesame Street.

My first craft project

Before I even got pregnant, I always loved the look of having the baby's name in wooden letters on the wall..
that was, until I found out I was having a boy :)
While Mom was visiting, we stopped at Michael's (LOVE this store) to pick up letters.
Well, we ended up finding something SO much better!
Here is the finished product:

I absolutely LOVE how it turned out.

For now it'll hang out on his dresser, but will make a fun toy in the future.

21 weeks

19 weeks to go :)
I know I say this every week, but where is the time going?
I feel like I just found out I was pregnant, and yet I'm 21 weeks along!
I had an amazing visit with my mom last week.  It was incredible to have her here and share not only the anatomy scan, but the pregnancy in general with her.  I am after all her baby, and so far from home!
Just to recap last week (because SO MUCH happened):
I apologize in advance for the long post!
So mom did her infamous "needle" test which (incorrectly) determined Baby C to be a girl.  Obviously excited because EVERYONE thought girl (even friends of mine who had guessed right EVERY time before, thought girl), we headed to the ultrasound on Thursday.
The ultrasound was incredible - in one of the photos you can see the hand and actually count the fingers!  Our tech was amazing and put up with my husband and his funny (to him) comments as well as my questions.  She was very thorough and explained everything.  So when it came down to the "potty shot", she was moving around trying to get a good picture.  Down in that area for a good 10 minutes, there was NO SIGN of an extra body part - so mom and I were thinking "it's a girl".  The tech then stated that she knew what the baby was but was trying to get a good picture for us.  She also mentioned that the baby was riding the umbilical cord - so then Brian thought, "must be a girl, she's being stubborn".  Then out of no where, a penis appears - it's a boy.  When she said boy, I responded "oh-no" and she said "I hope that isn't going to be his name".  Well no, that's not his name, but hearing it's a boy was out of left field - we were so sure it was a girl.
I won't lie... I was disappointed.  I wanted a girl, for so many reasons.
After the ultrasound, we immediately went upstairs to the dr's office for my appointment (which btw, is SO convenient - no waiting a week to get the results).  While sitting in the office waiting for the dr, Brian looked at me and said "as a man, I wanted a boy, and as a woman, I assume you'd want a girl, so I understand the disappointment you feel, because I really thought it was a girl".  It helped that he understood!  The doctor then came in and advised that he looked perfect.  She then listened to the heartbeat, which was tough to find since he was moving around like crazy.  She mentioned this and I could only laugh - so she asked why it was funny.  So I had to admit that I had chocolate before the appt to ENSURE the baby was moving.  She could only laugh at me.
Then she broke the news that I'd have my gestational diabetes test next month.  I knew it was coming up in the next couple of months, but was seriously hoping it would be later.  I'll be honest, I'm worried!  Not really sure why though - I've never had problems with sugar before - although my mom has always been borderline.  I also eat a ton more sugar now than I ever have.  I'm not really worried about having GD, I'm more worried about not being able to enjoy the same diet I have now, which includes lots of sweets :)
While we were meeting with the doctor, my mom was out in the car frosting cupcakes for my work.  I decided early on that I wanted to announce the gender in a fun way - so I decided to stuff cupcakes with the appropriate color frosting and then put a neutral color on top.  I so wish I would have gotten a picture because they turned out AWESOME!  My work friends definitely enjoyed the cupcakes and the surprise inside!  After we delivered the goodies to work, we picked up my mother in law for lunch and to tell her the news - she too, thought girl!  Surprise, ANOTHER grandson!  And the Chandler curse (hehe, I joke) continues...
Still disappointed over the baby being a boy, Mom and I went shopping and to begin my first registry.  It was at Target that I finally became OK with a boy.  I realized that while I cannot dress him up in tutu's or bows, there was PLENTY of cute and adorable boys stuff.  Once I realized that boys can still be cute, I was truly happy to be having a boy.  And anyway, there is always baby #2...

How far along? 21 weeks... Approximately 133 days to go
How Big is Baby (from - Baby's now the size of a banana!  Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion, and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth.
Weight gain - +1 pound since last week... still down 4.7 overall!
Maternity Clothes - Patiently waiting for warmer weather so I can wear my shorts and dresses.  Other than that, I have a pair of maternity pants that I love - BUT I'm still in my normal jeans :)
Food aversions - Sausage - especially fresh italian sausage
Cravings - Fruit and sugar
Symptoms - if I didn't have this growing belly, or the kicks, I wouldn't believe that I was pregnant!
Movement - LOTS!  It's so amazing to feel the baby!  Brycen loves to play hide and seek already.  Brian actually got a swift kick to his face the other night while lying on my belly and talking to Brycen - it was hilarious!
Belly Button - Still an innie
Labor Signs - None, and it can stay that way until AT LEAST 36 weeks!
Goal for the coming week -  Finish my first project for Brycen - pictures in a future post!
What I'm looking forward to - Our babymoon to KC next weekend and trip to Buffalo in May!
Well that's enough for tonight...

New Nursery Theme

This makes me very sad...
I picked out an awesome Snoopy theme so long ago, only to find out that it has a NOT so awesome price tag for the entire set (which as anal as I am, I would HAVE to have).
So, last night I began the painstaking process of finding a suitable replacement - especially since the walls are already painted!  I looked at HUNDREDS of themes... from Planes, Trains and Automobiles... to Animals... to Sports... to Geometric shapes.  I found a couple that kinda caught my eye, but needed to run it by hubby.
Brian was very surprised to learn of the issues I had with Snoopy - but he agreed that we should find a replacement.  His idea for a theme? SPORTS.  Seriously SPORTS?  I was not having it - I suggested trains and animals and a few others... nope, he wanted sports while I wanted something that said "baby".  Feeling defeated, mom and I head to BRU.  And that's where Mom finds this:

Hubby didn't say that his sports theme couldn't include animals - right?
I mean seriously, how perfect is that?

So after sending a picture to hubby and asking his thoughts - our nursery theme was decided!
(hubby is not happy that the soccer ball is bigger than the football; he says soccer isn't a manly sport - I beg to differ)

Here are some other pictures of the set:
(Please ignore the wrinkles in the sheet and the fact that the bumper is NOT attached - we wanted to set it up for hubby before he got home from work)

And before anyone says anything, YES we are using the bumper - if Brycen shows us that he wants to snuggle up to it, then we will remove it, but for now at least, it's staying in the crib!

Mom and I also completed my registries - which I have to say was unbelievably overwhelming!

Brycen is one lucky little boy - very loved and already spoiled rotten!

And Baby C is a...

According to the Gender poll, 14 of 26 people thought girl.  Perhaps next time (despite hubby saying "let's get through this baby first before thinking of #2", there WILL be #2 - within 2 years!)
Without further ado, introducing:
Brycen Jack

The potty shot
Face on - creepy looking :)
Potty shot

(sorry for the crappy photo quality - these are taken with my cell phone camera since our scanner is broken)

20 Weeks - The Halfway Point!

WHEW... I made it 20 weeks!  That means in approximately 20 short weeks, we will be meeting Baby C!
I'm utterly amazed at how quickly the past 20 weeks has gone - since I found out so early that we were expecting, I was worried that time would go so slow.
Weekly Stats and Reflection
Date: Wednesday, March 9, 2011
How far along? 20 weeks... Approximately 140 days to go
How Big is Baby (from - Baby's now the size of a cantaloupe!  Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies respond best to tastes they've already had via amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you'd like your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.
Weight gain - None since last week!  Still down 5.7 overall :)
Maternity Clothes - Slowly easing into them!  While my normal jeans still sit, they are getting a tad uncomfortable.
Food aversions - none
Cravings - Fruit and sugar
Symptoms - nothing interesting..they say heartburn may kick in starting around 20 weeks - let's hope so, otherwise this baby is going to be as bald as its daddy!
Movement - Lots of flutters and FINALLY a kick or two that I could feel on the outside.  Baby is on a weird sleep schedule right now - he/she is active during meal times, and thankfully is asleep when I'm sleeping.  Hopefully this schedule continues throughout the next 20 weeks and perhaps (haha I know, I make myself laugh too) after birth!
Belly Button - Still an innie
Labor Signs - None, and it can stay that way until AT LEAST 36 weeks!
Goal for the coming week - Register and begin a decoration project for the nursery
What I'm looking forward to - 10:45 am CST TOMORROW! And Brian finally getting to feel a kick.
Hope you haven't forgotten - and with my excitement level, I'm not sure if anyone COULD forget what tomorrow is!  I cannot.wait!
I will try and update the blog as soon as possible with pictures, and of course the gender :)
Now I remember what Christmas morning felt like as a child... I am so excited!
How in the world am I going to sleep tonight?

19 weeks

We are ALMOST halfway there!
I seriously cannot believe how fast this pregnancy is going. I feel like I blink and another week is gone... each week is another week closer to finally meeting baby Chandler.
The next 10 days are going to be quite exciting.
1. Mom is coming to visit all the way from NY - it's been a while since we've seen her!
2. Mom is bringing my FAVORITE candy from back home... SPONGE CANDY.  For those of you that aren't familiar (you are missing out):

3. Anatomy scan... Beside getting to HOPEFULLY find out gender, I'm very excited to see the baby.  Mom and I were talking about the possibility of the baby not cooperating and I told her I'd be willing to stand on my head if necessary - she said that wouldn't be needed because she'll be poking my tummy if she has to.

4. Getting registered at Target and BRU so mom and I can plan my NY baby shower!

5. My first consignment sale!  I got lucky - there are 4 consignment sales in the next month.  Something tells me I'm going to make sure I hit all 4!

6. 4 days off of work in a row!

Weekly Stats and Reflection
Date: Wednesday, March 2, 2011
How far along? 19 weeks... Approximately 147 days to go (Almost half way there!)
How Big is Baby (from - Baby's now the size of a mango!  Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil, and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.
Weight gain - gained .8 pounds...still down 5.7!
Maternity Clothes - None, but I'm getting to the point where maternity jeans might be more comfortable.  Might just have to give in this week!
Food aversions - none
Cravings - Fruit and sugar
Symptoms - nothing interesting
Movement - lots of flutters this past week!  Waiting for a good kick or two!
Belly Button - Innie
Labor Signs - None, and it can stay that way until AT LEAST 36 weeks!
Goal for the coming week - Be patient
What I'm looking forward to - 10:45 am CST on March 10th (which is 7 days, 14 hours and 40ish minutes away!)
Oh and if you have been a slacker and haven't voted in the gender poll, hurry up and do it now!
Also, make sure you follow me... we love followers... and comments!

They are gone!

I OFFICIALLY have a baby bump (cannot be confused with a recently eaten meal anymore), and just realized that I cannot see my toes when I look down... See:

Also, my boobs seem to be lost too..
what used to extend past my stomach are now dwarfed by my growing belly.

Oh the things we do to have babies :)  but, I would change a bit of it!

Here's a few more pics... I've been HORRIBLE on taking belly pics since like week 14, so I look one today at 18 weeks 6 days:

19 week update coming tomorrow!
